Funeral Services for Bert A. Vande Streek to Be Thursday

Bert A. Vande Streek died Monday afternoon at the Waupun Memorial hospital. He made his home with his sister, Mrs. Jennie Hopp, 307 Grandview avenue, for a number of years. He was born in the Netherlands Feb. 6, 1899. He was a member of the Alto Reformed church. Survivors are the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Hopp, Mrs. John Schouten, Mrs. Donald Killam, Alto; William Vande Streek, Art Vande Streek, Brandon, and Mrs. John Hull. The body will be in state at the Beyers funeral home from Monday noon until Thursday noon, when it will be taken to the Alto Reformed church where services will be held with the Rev. LeRoy Sandee in charge, at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Alto cemetery. (Source: Find A Grave)

Mrs. Jennie Hopp, 81, 110 S. Harris Avenue, Waupun, died Thursday, March 18, 1982, at Waupun Memorial Hospital. She was born Feb. 2, 1901, in the Netherlands, a daughter of Aart and Grietje Vande Kamp Vande Streek. She was married to Herman Sept. 16, 1927, in Alto. The couple farmed in the Waupun area until Mr. Hopp's retirement in 1952, when they moved to the city of Waupun. Mr. Hopp died in 1957. Mrs. Hopp was a member of Emmanuel Reformed Church in Waupun. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs Louis (Gladys) Jansma and Mrs. James (Mildred) Wierenga both of Waupun; one step-daughter, Mrs. Peter (Lillian) Lont, Waupun; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Art Vande Streek, Waupun; and William Vande Streek, Omro; three sisters, Mrs. Donald (Hanrietta) Killam, Markesan; and Mrs. John (Hattie) Schouten and Mrs. John (Gertrude) Hull, both of Waupun. She was preceded in death by her husband, one stepson and one brother. Funeral services were held Monday, March 22, at 1:30 p.m. at Emmanuel Reformed Church. The Rev. Elton Van Pernis officiated. Burial followed at Forest Mound Cemetery. Visitation was held Sunday from 4 to 9 p.m. at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun, and at the church Monday from noon to the time of service.

WAUPUN-Hattie Schouten, 90, of 550 E. Main St., Waupun, died Wednesday, May 21, 1997, at the Waupun Memorial Hospital. The funeral was Saturday, May 24, at Trinity Reformed Church, Waupun. The Rev. Dan Jelsma officiated. Burial was in Forest Mound Cemetery, Waupun. Mrs. Schouten was born March 14, 1907, daughter of Aart and Gertrude (Kwakkle) Vande Streek. She was married to John Schouten on Sept. 11, 1929 in Waupun. She and her husband lived in Waupun where she was instrumental in the foundation of the Trinity Reformed Church, Waupun, where she was active in many ladies organizations. She inspired many students in the music field. Survivors include one daughter, Marilyn Kolb of Plymouth, Wis.; two sons, Larry (Alyce) Schouten of Hartland, Arvid (Cindy) Schouten of Waupun; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Gertrude Hull of Waupun. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1991; one granddaughter, Leslyn Matheys; two brothers; one sister; one half brother; and one half sister. Friends called on Saturday, May 24, at the werner- Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun. Memorials may be made to Trinity Reformed Church, Waupun.

William J. Vande Streek, 76, of 4422 Vande Streek, Omro, Wis. died Thursday, Nov. 7, 1985 at Theda Clark Hospital, Neenah. Mr. Vande Streek was born September 26, 1909, in the Town of Trenton a son to Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Vande Streek. On April 11, 1931 he married Norma Johnson in Rockford, IL. He was associated with the Waupun Produce Company until 1947 when he began the Vande Streek Coal & Oil Co. in Waupun. He retired there in 1976. He was a former member of the Waupun Fire Department for over 25 years. He was a former member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Waupun. Currently he was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. Omro. Survivors include his wife; one son, Jerome of Waupun; one brother, Arthur of Waupun; three sisters, Mrs. John (Hattie) Schouten and Mrs. John (Gertrude) Hull, both of Waupun, and Mrs. Donald (Henrietta) Killum of Markesan; 4 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, Nov 11 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Omro. The Rev. Boyer and Rev. Mattson officiated. Burial was at Highland Memory Gardens, Town of Trenton. Mr Vande Streek was born on Dec., 3, 1910, in in the Town of Trenton, the son of Art and Gertrude (Kwakkel) Vande Streek. He was married to Tena Aalsma on Oct. 19, 1933, in the Town of Trenton. He farmed in and around the Waupun area until 1960, when he moved to Waupun. He was employed by the Westra Construction Company and retired in 1975. Waupun-Gertrude Hull, 89, of 100 Harris Ave., No. 109, Waupun, died on Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2001, at her home. The funeral was held on Thursday, Aug. 16, at 1:30 p.m., at Emmanuel Reformed Church, Waupun. The Rev. David Parrish officiated. Burial was in Forest Mound Cemetery, Waupun. Mrs. Hull was born on Jan. 9, 1912, in the township of Trenton, the daughter of Aart and Gerritje "Gertrude" (Kwakkel) Vande Streek. She was married on Jan. 9, 1933, to John Henry Hull in Rockford, Ill. Mrs. Hull was a life long resident of the Waupun area. She was a member of Emmanuel Reformed Church, its guild, and was a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the ladies auxiliary of the Christian Home. She was an avid quilter, sewed blankets for all of her family, and enjoyed reading. She was formerly employed with Infant Socks, Waupun and Fond du Lac. She and her husband farmed in the Alto area and were the former owners of Hull Implement, where she was the bookkeeper. Survivors include eight sons, Robert (Beverly) Hull, Gordon (Marlene) Hull, Elton (Katherine) Hull, all of Waupun, Delvin (Donna) Hull, Colona, Ill., Lyle (Jayne) Hull, Waupun, Ronald (Joan) Hull, Burnett, Jerald (Luanne) Hull, Waupun, and Philip (Felipa) Hull, East Moline, Ill.; three daughters, Elaine (Samuel) Braaksma, Wisconsin Rapids, Lois (Gordon) Alsum, Waupun, and Caroline (Gene Bennett) Gilmore, Beaver Dam; 40 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; step-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. WAUPUN - Jerome "Jerry" Vande Streek, 67, 401 Grace St., Waupun, died on Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, in Grayson County, Texas.

The funeral will be held on Monday, Oct. 16, at 11 a.m., at St. Martins Catholic Church, Highway 67 east of Lomira, Ashford. The Rev. Wayne J. Barta will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton.

Mr. Vande Streek was born on March 23, 1933, in Waupun, the son of William and Norma (Johnson) Vande Streek. He was married to Darlene Harrington, on Jan. 12, 1957, in Waupun.

Mr. Vande Streek was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and his family was most important to him. He was a Waupun resident all of his life. He soloed for his pilots license at the age of 16. He was an Air Force veteran serving from 1952 to 1956. He was the owner of the Vande Streek Oil Inc. of Waupun. He was employed with the Reabes Air Service of Waupun, where he continued to be an avid pilot. He loved sailing and riding his BMW motorcycle through the Kettle Moraine area. He was a member of St. Martins Catholic Church, Ashford. He was a former member of the Jaycees

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Darlene; four daughters, Susan (Paul) Yaskanich, Mt. Vernon, Wash., Sharon (Robert) Foley, Santa Rosa, Calif., Kathy (Mark) Popp, Richfield, and Karen Vande Streek, San Antonio, Texas; six grandchildren, Christopher and Jonathan Suttles, Kimberly Foley, Amy and Paula Uker, and Ashley Popp; and one great-grandson, Braiden Uker.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
