MINOT (N.D.)DAILY NEWS,FRI., FEB 5, 1982: Alice Benson was born Sept 1, 1912, In Deerwood, Minnesota and was reared at Crosby, Minn. She studied nursing at the Francis Asbury School of Nursing in Minneapolis, and in 1933, became a registered nurse. She married Bert Van de Streek Dec. 25, 1935 in Crosby, Minnesota. They lived in St Coud, Minnesota, until 1942, moving then to Bremerton, Washington, where both were employed in the naval shipyards. They came to Minot in 1945, and that same year, opened Van de Streek Furs. In 1956, Mrs Van de Streek and Mrs Madge Power of Minot opened the Al-Ma shop, a dry goods business in Minot. Both businesses were closed when the owners retired in 1974. Mrs Van de Streek was a member of Vincent United Church, the order of Eastern Star, the Book and Thimble and the Quota clubs of Minot. Final Resting Place: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, North Dakota.
