- Mrs. Joanne SMITH - Rte 2, Delton, Michigan, passed away Tuesday evening, November 23, 1976. Mrs. SMITH was born November 20, 1919 in Kalamazoo, daughter of Edward and Hattie VANDE STREEK, and was a lifelong resident of Kalamazoo and Delton. Served with the U.S. Army Nursing Corp during World War II in Europe and Pacific Theatres. She was a member of the Women?s Overseas League. She was a partner in the Smith-Graham Roofing Company of Battle Creek. Surviving are: husband, Arthur E.; one daughter and one son, Mrs. Bill (Mary) OSBORNE, at home, Jay W. SMITH of Fine Lake; three brothers and three sisters, Mrs. Howard (Alice) CLELAND of Portage, Mrs. Jack (Alberta) KOETJE of Kalamazoo, Miss Ruth VANDESTREEK of Grand Rapids, Edward VANDESTREEK of Parchment, Albert VANDESTREEK of Portage, Bernard VANDESTREEK of Plainwell; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two daughters. Memorial services will be held Friday morning at 10 o?clock at the Langeland Portage Chapel, 411 Centre Avenue. Interment, Mount Ever-Rest Cemetery. Friends may call at the Portage Chapel Thursday morning at 10.
